Hip hop artist Twista was born Carl Terrell Mitchell on November 27, 1973, in Chicago, Illinois. He developed an interest in rapping at an early age, and released his debut album Runnin’ Off at da Mouth in 1992, yet at that time, he was performing as Tung Twista. Though he released a second album title Resurrection in 1994, it conflicted with an album by Common with the same title, and was therefore only released in Chicago. He would go on to release Adrenaline Rush in 1997 just before eliminating “Tung” from his stage name. The album went to #77 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart, and was popularized by the single “Get it Wet”, which went to #96. He joined other Chicago rappers to create the Speedknot Mobstaz, with whom he released the album Mobstability. Twista then went on to put out the albums Legit Ballin’ in 1999 and Legit Ballin’ Vol. 2.: Street Scriptures in 2001, followed by Kamikaze in 2004, The Day After in 2005, Adrenaline Rush 2007 in 2007, Category F5 in 2009, The Perfect Storm in 2010, and Dark Horse in 2014. He has also had the opportunity to work with other prominent artists of the 2000s, including Lady Gaga, Chris Brown, and Trey Songz.
