Tyler Perry (born Emmitt Perry, Jr.) is an actor, producer, director, playwright, and author.  He is well-known for his creation of the popular film and stage character, Madea.  Many of Perry’s plays have been adapted as films, such as Diary of a Man Black Woman (2005), Why Did I Get Married? (2007), and Meet the Browns (2008), among others.  Perry has also created the television show Tyler Perry’s House of Payne (2006-2012).   He is known for the popular films The Family That Preys (2008), Star Trek (2009), Why Did I Get Married Too? (2010), Good Deeds (2012), and Gone Girl (2014).  Perry has partnered with Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network, featuring two of his television series on the network, The Haves and the Have Nots, and Love Thy Neighbor.  Upcoming acting projects include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, Boo! A Madea Halloween, and Brain on Fire.
