UB40 is an English reggae and pop group formed in Birmingham, England in 1978. The group consists of current members Jimmy Brown, Robin Campbell, Earl Falconer, Norman Nassan, Brain Travers, and Duncan Campbell. The group’s past members include the likes of Ali Campbell, Yomi Babayemi, Jimmy Lynn, Mickey Virtue, and Astro. UB40 is internationally known and has over 50 hit singles on the UK Singles chart.
UB40 released their first single, “King/Food for Thought” on Graduate Records in 1979. The single charted in at number 4 on the UK Singles Chart. In 1980 they released their debut album called Signing Off. The album peaked at number 2 on the UK albums chart and eventually went platinum. In 1983 they released their album Labour of Love and broke into the U.S. Market. The album reached number 1 on the UK album charts and number 8 on the Billboard 200. The album featured the famous single such as “Red Red Wine.” They then released the single “(I Can’t Help) Falling in Love With You” which also became an international success.
UB40 has sold over 70 million records since their inception and toured all around the world. They have produced 18 albums and have been nominated for a Grammy Award four times and a Brit Award.
