Tierra Umi Wilson (February 9, 1999), better known for her stage name UMI, is a Seattle born and native and is now based in LA. The 21 year old half-Japanese half-African American artist juggles her music career with her studies as she currently studies at University of South California. She built her online presence gradually through her covers on Soundcloud and YouTube. Her neo-soul sound and heart-rending voice, UMI released her first single through Wilson Records in 2017 titled ‘Happy Again’ was loved by her fanbase. Shortly after, UMI released her well-known single, ‘FRIENDZONE’, with 3 million views on Youtube. This was followed by her debut EP, ‘Interlude’ in 2018. The young rising star began to release a few singles each year, one of them being her biggest hit, ‘Remember Me’ in 2018, with 34 million plays on Spotify. “Beyond her masterful lyrics, the song itself is a testament to her talent as a vocalist, her voice effortlessly gliding over the melodies.” said by One’s To Watch music blog as they rave about her single.
