Vampire Weekend Bio

Vampire Weekend is an American indie rock band. The band was formed in New York in 2006 and it consists of vocalist and guitarist Ezra Koenig, baterist Chris Tomson and bassist Chris Baio. The band’s sound is characterized by the fusion of African music with alternative rock. They started playing in local venues and soon earned recognition in the New York musical scene. In 2007 they toured across the U.K. alongside The Shins, for whom they opened. They released their self titled first album in 2008 which included the hit singles “Mansard Roof”, “A-Punk” and the highly acclaimed “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa”, which had over 9 million streams on YouTube. The last song made it as number 67 in the Rolling Stone’s magazine 100 Best Songs of the Year. The second album of the band titled “Contra” was released in 2010 and it made it to number one on the Billboard 200. The band has played in major festivals like Coachella, Glastobury and Bonnaroo, among many others. They released their third album “Vampires of the City” in 2013, earning the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album. They have collaborated with artists such as Danielle Haim.
