Victoria Beckham Bio
Singer, model, fashion designer and businesswoman Victoria Beckham was born Victoria Caroline Adams on April 17, 1974 in Essex, England. She was inspired to pursue a musical career after seeing the movie Fame at the age of six. Her parents first enrolled her at Jason Theatre School and in 1991, she began attending Laine Theatre Arts college where she studied modeling and dance. In 1994, Beckham became a part of the successful all-female group Spice Girls, along with Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm. The group released three albums, Spice (1996), Spiceworld (1997), and Forever (2000) and earned ten number one singles including “Wannabe”, “Say You’ll Be There”, and “Spice Up Your Life”, before disbanding. Beckham released her debut solo album, Victoria Beckham, on October 1, 2001. In 2002, she began working with producer Damon Dash on an R&B and hip hop inspired album, however, due to negative press regarding her music career, she never completed the album. In 2007, the Spice Girls embarked on a reunion tour and released a greatest hits album. In 2012, they appeared together during the closing ceremonies of the Summer Olympics in London.
In addition to her music career, Beckham has also become successful in the world of fashion, both as a model and a designer. She has walked the runway for Maria Grachvogel and Roberto Cavalli and appeared in campaigns for Dolce and Gabbana and Marc Jacobs. In 2007, she launched her dvb Denim collection at New York’s famed Saks Fifth Avenue and the following year she launched her own label, Victoria, which has become a fixture at New York Fashion Week. In 2011, Beckham won Designer Brand of the Year at the British Fashion Awards. She also produces her own perfume, denim and eyewear lines.
Victoria Beckham has appeared as a mentor and judge on Project Runway, Germany’s Next Top Model, and American Idol. She has also released two books, the autobiography Learning to Fly (2001) and a fashion advice guide titled That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels and Everything in Between (2007.) She is married to former Real Madrid star David Beckham, with whom she has four children.
