Born as Vincent Edward Scully on November 29, 1927, in Bronx, New York, USA, Vin Scully is a retired American sports broadcaster most famous for his association with Los Angeles Dodgers for 67 seasons. He started his career as a major-league announcer in 1950 by calling games for Dodgers while the franchise was located in Brooklyn. He captured the hearts of many with his remarkably soothing voice, lyrical description of the game and entertaining narration of in-game stories he learned over the years. During his stellar sportscasting career, he also worked for CBS and NBC Sports as a play-to-play announcer for various baseball and football tournaments. His signature style and unwavering commitment to his work won him multiple awards including Ford Frick Award (1982), Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award (1995), ESPY Icon Award (2017) and many more. He also has his own Hollywood Walk of Fame star. While Scully retired in 2016 announcing his 67th season and last game for the Los Angeles Dodgers, he’s still remembered as the best sports broadcaster of all time.
