Rapper Vince Staples was born on July 2, 1993 in Long Beach, California. He did not have plans to pursue a rap career, but after rapping on some tracks with Odd Future and having success, he decided to continue on that path. He is a member of the Cutthroat Boyz.
In December 2011, he released his first mixtape, “Shyne Goldchain, Vol. 1” via applebird.com. His second mixtape, “Winter in Prague,” was released in October 2012. In June 2013, he released his third mixtape, “Stolen Youth,” and toured with Mac Miller on his Space Migration Tour. He also signed with Def Jam Recordings in 2013. His fourth mixtape, “Shyne Goldchain, Vol. 2,” was released in October 2013. He released a music video for the song, “Blue Suede,” in August 2014. In October 2014, he released an EP, “Hell Can Wait,” which had guest appearances from Aston Matthews and Teyana Taylor. He was featured on Common’s single, “Kingdom,” in 2014 as well. His debut studio album, “Summertime ‘06,” was released in June 2015. It peaked at number two on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart, number three on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and number 39 on the Billboard Top 200. He was named to the “XXL Magazine” Freshman Class of 2015.
