Vir Das is a movie and television actor, as well as a comedian. He was born in Dehradun, India, on the 31st of May, 1979. His debut in stand up comedy “Brown Men Can't Hump” was held in the Knox’s Harbach Theatre, Illinois. That play made him win a Richter Scholarship for Theatre and the Colton Performance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Acting from Knox. Vir Das continued his acting formation at the Stanislavsky program at Harvard University, as well as at the Stanislavsky Program of the Moscow Arts Theatre. But it is really when he returned to India, that his fame started to rise, and he started hosting and performing in comedy shows, like ‘The Great Indian Comedy Show’. He got his first role in a Bollywood movie in 2006, for the movie “Namastey London”, where he played alongside Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. After that, Das continued his prolific career starring in more than 15 movies like “Delhi Belly”, “Badmaash Company” and “Go Goa Gone”. In 2017, he released the first Indian comedy special for Netflix called “Abroad Understanding” and he then released three more Netflix specials by 2020.
