Wagner Maniçoba de Moura, known as Wagner Moura, is a Brazilian actor, producer, director, and screenwriter best known for his work in film, television, and theatre. He was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, on June 27, 1976.
Wagner began his acting career in 1996 when he acted in the theatrical release of Cuida bem de mim, and his theatre days have seen him also appear in Hamlet, A Casa de Eros, A Máquina, and Dilúvio em Tempos de Secas. He made his film debu in 200 when he was cast in the comedy-romance film Woman on Top which featured Penélope Cruz. Wagner has had recurring roles in the TV series Tropical Paradise, JK, Once in a Blue Moon, Fragile Sex, and Shining Girls, but he is best known for portraying Pablo Escobar in the crime-drama series Narcos which also features Pedro Pascal, Boyd Holbrook, Alberto Ammann, and Paulina Gaitan.
Wagner has won numerous awards for his acting, including a São Paulo Association of Art Critics Award for Best Actor, an Imagen Foundation Award for Best Actor - Feature Film, and a Prêmio Contigo Cinema, Brazil Award for Best Actor.
