Wanda Sykes was born on March the 7th 1964 in Virginia and is an American actress, writer and comedian. Gaining early recognition for her work as a writer on The Chris Rock Show, Sykes earned an Emmy for her work on the show from 1997 to 2000. Some of her best known television work includes the role of Barb on The New Adventures of Old Christine, where she worked alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus. More recently the actress portrays Daphne on Blackish and Dara on the hit show Broad City.
A prolific stand up comedian, Sykes has also acted in films, voicing roles in animated film such as Rio and the Ice Age Franchise as Granny. Recently, she has held roles in License to Wed alongside Robin Williams and Mandy Moore, Bad Moms and it’s sequel, A Bad Moms Christmas as Dr.Karl, in this film she worked alongside Mila Kunis and Kristen bell.
