Waxahatchee is a moniker for the musical career of American musician Kate Crutchfeld. Born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1987, Crutchfeld started out crafting a lo-fi debut full-length album in 2012 called American Weekend, which garnered her some notoriety. After taking part in the duo Great Thunder along with Keith Spencer, she released a second LP called Cerulean Salt in 2013. That same year an LP under the name Groovy Kinda Love was also put forth. In 2015 the artist signed with Merge Records and saw the upcoming LP Ivy Tripp make a debut on the Billboard 200. This production featured the talents of John Agnello, her twin sister Allison Crutchfield, bassist Katherine Simonetti, and drummer Ashley Arnwine. In 2020 Waxahatchee released yet another album called Saint Cloud, with a backing band consisting of Bobby Colombo and Bill Lennox, Josh Kaufman, and Nick Kinsey as her backing band.
