William Control is the pet project of musician, author, and artist William Francis, a poly-talented individual whose music might make you think of the Goth version of Depeche Mode. Francis was also frontman of the horror-punk band Aiden, which ran 2003 to 2016 and had its own cult following, being one of the few bands true Goths are proud to call their own. In fact, William Francis has had fingers in many more pies, being involved in collaborations with artists such as Girl On Fire, Falling in Reverse, Silverstein, Vampires Everywhere!, Blood on the Dance Floor, and The Used.
William Control’s focus has been more on the darkwave genre, with William being frontman and the line-up of Kenneth Fletcher (guitars, bass, backing vocals, synthesizers), Ian MacWilliams (keyboards, synthesizers, backing vocals), Crilly Ashes (synthesizers, keyboards, backing vocals), and Nick Rossi (drums). They released five studio albums and many more singles and EPs, all of which charted decent, plus they spun off a couple acoustic albums on the side. The project is currently on hiatus, however, the music powerhouse that is William Francis isn’t likely to stay quiet for long.
