Swedish professional ice hockey player, William Nylander was born on 1st May 1996 in Calgary, Canada. In his early years, he played with the New York Rangers minor ice hockey team at the 2009 Quebec International Pee Wee Hockey Tournament. In 2013, he made his Allsvenskan debut. In the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, he was ranked as one of the top prospects and was selected 8th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs. In 2015, he was assigned to their AHL affiliate, Toronto Marlies. He was instrumental in leading the Marlies to the 2015 Calder Cup Playoffs. His NHL debut came in 2016 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. For his incredible assistance, he was named Rookie of the Month by NHL in November 2016. In the 2017-19 season, he was placed on the top line with Human and Matthews. During the off-season, he became a restricted free agent. By the time the NHL was suspended on account of the Covid-19 Pandemic, he had already reached career-high numbers with 31 goals in 68 games and 28 assists.
