Formed in 1998, the reggaeton duo Wisin and Yandel is comprised of Puerto Rican singers Juan Luis Morera Luna (Wisin) and Llandel Veguilla Malavé (Yandel). Their introduction into the music industry came when they were featured on the album No Fear 3, which sparked their signing to Fresh Production through whom they released their debut album Los Reyes del Nuevo Milenio (Kings of the New Millennium). Their next three albums off the label, De Nuevos a Viejos in 2001, Mi Vida… My Life in 2003, and De Otra Manera in 2004, all went Gold, solidifying them as forerunners in Puerto Rican reggaeton music.
Wisin and Yandel both had unsuccessful attempts at solo careers in the early 2000s, which prompted them to stay together and form their own label WY Records. They released the extremely successful album Pa’l Mundo in 2005, followed by Los Vaqueros in 2005 in Los Extraterrestres in 2007, on which appeared artists such as Fat Joe and Eve. The duo have been recognized at a handful of award ceremonies, including a nomination at the 2008 BMI Latin Awards for Writer of the Year. They would go on to release La Revolución in 2009, Los Vaqueros: El Regreso in 2011, and Líderes in 2012 before announcing their indefinite split in 2013.
