YACHT is an American pop band formed in Portland, Oregon in 2002. The group members are Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans and when their touring, Bobby Birdman joins the band. The band is named after a school in Portland, Oregon and means Young Americans Challenging High Technology. The band started with Jona Bechtolt and on his own he released the albums Super Warren MMIV, Mega, and I Believe in You from 2002 to 2008. In 2008 Yacht turned into a duo with the addition of Claire L. Evans. She contributed the vocals to the songs in the 2009 album See Mystery Lights. They soon after published a book titled The Secret Teachings of the Mystery Lights: A Handbook Overcoming Humanity and Becoming Your Own God. In 2011 they added the band The Straight Gaze to their live shows and called themselves YACHT and the Straight Gaze. That same year they released their album Shangri-La. In 2014 they were signed to Downtown Records and released the EP Where Does This Disco. They released their 6th studio album in 2015 titled I Thought the Future Would Be Cooler.
