Yaya DaCosta is an American model and actress born in New York City, New York on November 15, 1982. Her career took off after appearing in the 3rd cycle of America’s Next Top Model where she was the runner-up. She used the attention she received from the show and turned it into a successful acting career. After the show she appeared in advertisements for companies like Sephora, Dr. Scholl’s, Seda, Oil of Olay, Radioshack, Garnier Fructis, Lincoln Townhouse and appeared on the covers of magazines like W, Vogue, and L’Officiel. In 2005 she made her debut appearance on television in the show Eve and continued landing roles in shows like Ugly Betty, Mercy, Army Wives, House, Chicago Med, and others. In 2006 she landed her first role in a film in the movie Take the Lead and has since been in the films The Messenger, Tron: Legacy, In Time, The Butler, The Nice Guys, and more. Throughout her career she has been nominated for a number of awards, including two Black Reel Awards, a Teen Choice Award, a Gotham Award, a Phoenix Film Critics Society Award among others.
