YBS Skola Bio

YBS Skola is the stage name of Dajuan Cannady. He was born on June 30, 1994, in Baltimore, Maryland. His stage name came about because Cannady was part of the local YBS (Young Ballers Shining) crew. Skola was a childhood nickname that Cannady was given. After receiving encouragement from his family and friends, Cannady began pursuing a career in rap at the age of 17. He released his first album in 2016, No Pen Just Paper, with the single Whole Lotta Money. Not long after the release, Lor Scotta, founder and member of the YBS crew, was murdered after attending an anti-violence event. Weeks later, Skola's manager Trayvon "Truz" Lee was killed. After the deaths that shook him, Cannady decided to release his debut album as No Pen Just Paper Reloaded in 2017, incorporating additional Scoota verses in his memory. In the same year, Cannady released a mixtape, Only Hope, collaborating with the likes of Shy Glizzy, Don Q, Nic Breed, and Scoota.
