Young Buck, born David Darnell Brown, is a rapper from Nashville, Tennessee. He was signed to Cash Money Records in 1995 after the co-founder saw him perform in 1995. Though signed to Cash Money for years, he released no solo output until he left the label in favor of 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records in 2004, which distributed his debut album, Straight Outta Cashville, that year. Featuring successful singles such as “Let Me In” and “Shorty Wanna Ride,” the album charted at #3 on the Billboard 200. Young Buck parted ways with G-Unit following personal issues with 50 Cent, during which time he released Buck The World and The Rehab: two albums which were warmly received by critics, if less commercially successful than his debut. He reunited with G-Unit in 2014, coinciding with the release of his solo mixtape Before The Beast, and G-Unit’s EP, The Beast Is G-Unit.
