Young the Giant is an American indie rock band formed in 2004 in Irvine, California, by high-school friends Sameer Gadhia (vocals), Jacob Tilley (guitar), Eric Cannata (guitar), Payam Doostzadeh (bass), and François Comtois (drummer). After opening for bands like Kings of Leon in California, the band rose to prominence with its full-length self-titled debut in 2010, which included the gold-certified hits “My Body” and “Cough Syrup.” The album featured the talents of Bo Koster from My Morning Jacket and Roger Manning from Jellyfish. Their second LP was titled “Mind Over Matter” and was produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen in 2014. It ranked at number 7 in Billboard’s Top 200. The band has toured and released another LP and a series of singles between 2015 and 2018.
