Born as Ojay Morgan, in 1987, American rapper, Zebra Katz first shot into the limelight when his single “Ima Read”, originally meant to be a strong pronouncement on black culture, was picked up by Rick Owens, as background music for his 2012 outing at the Paris Fashion Week. The video for “Ima Read” has garnered more than 250,0000 YouTube views.
Morgan has mentioned in several interviews, that Zebra Katz, began as a character developed for a senior thesis project, while he was at the Eugene Lang College in New York. What began as a project, has now catapulted him into becoming a popular figure in the genre of Queer Rap, an expression that Morgan has said, he has mixed feelings about.
Morgan has released several other tracks such as the 2014 single “Tear the House Up” and the 2016 “Hello Hi”. He has also collaborated with artists such as Boyfriend, Herve and the Grammy award winning virtual band, Gorillaz, with whom he worked, on their 2017 album Humanz.
