American internet personality, physician, comedian, and musician Zubin Damania was born on 23rd April 1973 in New Jersey. While studying molecular and cell biology at the University of California, he also minored in music. His interest in combining medicine and comedy began during his years at college. One of his first videos to go viral was the commencement speech during his graduation. It was also listed as the top 10 commencement speeches of all time by NPR. As a practicing hospitalist he was also awarded the Russell Lee Award for Clinical Teaching. When he became frustrated with the traditional fee-for-service model of his job, he began to write and perform musical parodies about life as a doctor. This eventually led to the channel ZDoggMd which has over 81 million views. He has been featured in publications like TechCrunch, The Atlantic Monthly, Mental Floss, The Guardian, ScienceBlogs, Today’s Hospitalist and many more. He won the Best New Medical Weblog Award at the 2010 Medical Weblog Awards.
