Comedian, actress and host Ellen DeGeneres, born January 26th 1958 in Metairie, Louisiana, started in stand-up comedy. She made her stand-up debut on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson, and was the first female comic to be invited to sit on the famed couch during her first appearance. DeGeneres made the rounds on various talk shows including The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live, and Good Morning, America. The comedian delighted audiences and found success as an actress in her self-titled television series, Ellen. DeGeneres went on to host her own popular daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which won many awards over the years. Ellen also voiced the lovable character Dory in Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory.
