Gesaffelstein is the stage name of the French DJ, music programmer, songwriter and record producer Mike Lévy. He was born in Lyon, France on June 13, 1987. Lévy has worked with a number of popular artists, including Daft Punk, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, The Weeknd, Phoenix and others. His name is a combination of Gesamtkunstwerk and Albert Einstein. He started producing music at 16 years old. In 2008 he released his debut EP titled Vengeance Factory and has since released the EPs Modern Walk, The Operator, Variations, Conspiracy Pt. 1, Conspiracy Pt. 2, Crainte / Errance, Bromance #1, and Bromance #4: Rise of the Depravity. In 2013 he released his debut studio album titled Aleph. The album charted at number 30 in France, number 16 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums Chart, and number 50 on the Heatseekers Album chart. He released his second studio album in 2019 titled Hyperion. Gesaffelstein has released his music through the labels Parlophone, Columbia, Bromance, Zone, Turbo, and OWSLA.
