Steven Seagal Bio
Steven Seagal was born on April 10, 1952 in Lansing, Michigan. He learned martial arts before acting, attaining a 7th dan degree and Shihan in aikido, and holding black belts in Karate, Judo and Kendo. He starred in 1988’s Above The Law as a favor to a former aikido student, Michael Ovitz. Riding the film’s success, the films that followed, including Hard To Kill, Marked for Death, Out for Justice, and Under Siege made him an action hero star. He focused his stardom into environmentally conscience action films like On Deadly Ground (1994), Fire Down Below (1997), and The Patriot (1998).
Seagal’s most recent Hollywood role was the villain in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete in 2010, while starring, producing and writing numerous direct-to-video films such as Black Dawn, Kill Switch, and A Dangerous Man. He launched his television career with A&E Network’s reality series Steven Seagal: Lawman. In 2011 he produced and starred in the TV series True Justice. Seagull is also a guitarist, having released two studio albums and performed on a number of his film scores.
