Sir Sean Connery was born on August 25, 1930, in Fountainbridge, Scotland. His acting career expands over six decades, starting with a small chorus role in a theatre production of South Pacific in 1951. Before he started acting as a career, he was involved in bodybuilding and even represented Scotland in a Mr. Universe competition.
Sir Connery is best known for his iconic role as James Bond. His first bond film was Dr. No (1962), before the Bond franchise had the fame it holds today. Connery’s work in Goldfinger (1964) launched James Bond to stardom, bringing Connery to stardom as well. He reprised the role as Bond for three more films, finishing with Diamonds Are Forever (1971). After passing off the role of James Bond, he continued to star in many films. In 1988, he received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables (1987).
Connery became a knight in 2000, and was recognized at the Kennedy Center Honors in 1999. He retired from acting from 2006.
