Deep Dish Bio

Originating in Washington, D.C. in 1992, Deep Dish is comprised of Ali “Dubfire” Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi. They are known for providing house or dance remixes for artists including Madonna, Janet Jackson, Cher, and Gabrielle. They first gained attention in 1995 for their remix of De’Lacy’s “Hideaway.” In 1998, the duo released their first album, Junk Science, which included a mix of jazz, progressive house, classic rock samples and Middle Eastern sounds. The album contains the song “The Future of the Future (Stay Gold)” which features an appearance by Everything But the Girl vocalist Tracey Thorn. Their second album, George is On, was released on July 12, 2005 and contained their biggest UK chart hit “Flashdance”, as well as a remake of the classic Fleetwood Mac song “Dreams”, for which Stevie Nicks provided new vocals. The second single from the album, “Say Hello”, reached #1 on the US dance chart in September of 2005. The following year, Deep Dish disbanded and Shirazinia and Tayebi moved on to solo careers.

In January of 2014, activity on the duo’s long dormant website led many to believe a reunion was in the works. This was confirmed on March 22, 2014, when the duo appeared on the BBC 1 radio show Essential Mix. On March 29th, Deep Dish performed live for the first time in 8 years when they appeared at the Ice Palace as part of Miami’s Ultra Music Festival.
