Peaches is a Canadian musician, record producer, director and visual artist. She was born Merril Nisker, on the 11th of November, 1966, in Ontario, Canada. She began her career in the 1990s, as a part of the folk band Mermaid Cafe. Five years later, she founded the punk rock band called the Shit. She released her debut solo album in that same year, “Fancypants Hoodlum”. In 2000, she released her second album, this time under the alias Peaches. The album, “The Teaches of Peaches”, featured a mix of electroclash and new wave which pleased both the audience and the critics. That year, The Guardian included Peaches’s album in its 1000 Albums to Hear Before You Die. She has collaborated with many artists and bands, including Christina Aguilera, and R.E.M.S. Nikster has also done several cameos on television like in “Orphan Black”. She is a multi-awarded artist, among other recognitions, she won Electronic Artist of the Year at the 2010 Independent Music Awards, as well as the Heritage Award at the 2015 Polaris Music Prize.
