Ross Edgley Bio

Ross Edgley (born October 13, 1985) is an author, outdoor explorer, and ultra-marathon sea swimmer. Edgley was born into a sport-loving family in Grantham, Lincolnshire. He played many sports as a child but specialized in swimming and water polo. In 2019 he was awarded an honorary Ph.D. from Bishop Grosseteste University for his research into mental and physical resilience. He holds several world records, but he is most recognized for completing the World's farthest Staged Sea Swim in 2018 when he succeeded as the first man in history to swim 1,792 miles (2,884 km) around Great Britain in 157 days. Named World Open Water Swimming Association Performance of the Year, he documented his training, nutrition, theories, and strategies. He published them in his books The World's Fittest Book (2018) and The Art of Resilience (2020), both of which became No.1 Sunday Times Bestsellers and have been translated into several other languages.
