Barry Pepper is a Canadian actor born April 4, 1970, in Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada. Pepper is mostly known for his roles in dramatic masterpieces, Saving Private Ryan (1998) and The Green Mile (1999), but he has a rich filmography behind him, both in movies and on television. Pepper's childhood and education were very unorthodox - he and his family were living aboard a boat for five years, cruising through the South Pacific islands. Pepper was schooled through correspondence courses and parents used art and acting as means of entertainment, instead of television and video games. Pepper's unique living style helped him develop his love for expressing himself through art. After moving back to Canada, Pepper graduated from George P. Vanier High School in Courtenay. Soon after starting college, Pepper redirected towards acting and joined the Vancouver Actors Studio. His first roles were on Canadian television and after a few unsuccessful endeavors with American productions, he landed the role of Private Daniel Jackson in Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan. Other notable performances followed - We Were Soldiers (2002), Clint Eastwood's Flags of Our Fathers (2006), Seven Pounds (2008) with Will Smith, and many more.
