Amy Poehler Bio
Amy Poehler is an American actress, comedian, producer, writer and director. She was born Amy Meredith Poehler on the 16th of September, 1971, in Newton, Massachusetts, U.S. She studied improvisation at Chicago’s Second City in the early 1990s. She is a co-founder of the improvisation troupe Upright Citizens Brigade. The troupe started to perform on Comedy Central in 1998. A few years later, Poehler joined the cast of the series “Saturday Night Live”. She also became co-anchor of the “Weekend Update” during four years. Poehler has also performed as a voice actress, in movies such as “Shrek the Third” and “Inside Out”. She is also an executive producer, holding credits on television series like “Russian Doll”, “Welcome to Sweden”, and “Duncanville”. Poehler has received many awards including a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Musical or Comedy Series in 2014, and in 2015 she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
