Edward Harrison Norton was born on August 18, 1969 in Boston, Massachusetts. His film debut was in the movie adaption of William Diehl’s novel Primal Fear (1996). His portrayal of altar boy Aaron Stampler won him a Golden Globe Award and an Oscar nomination. Norton received another Oscar nomination for his impressive performance in American History X (1998).
In 1999, Norton starred alongside Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter in David Fincher’s Fight Club. Although not initially a big success at the box office it has since gained a huge following. Norton was cast as the title character in Marvel’s The Incredible Hulk (2008). Due to many disputes between the actor and the studio, he was replaced in the role by Mark Ruffalo in The Avengers (2012).
Norton starred in black comedy Birdman (2014) with Michael Keaton and Emma Stone. His performance as Broadway actor Mike Shiner earned him his third Academy Award nomination. Aside from acting Norton is well known for his social activism and involvement in environmental issues.
