Don Cheadle was born on November 29, 1964, in Kansas City, Missouri. He has worked as a writer, producer, and director, but is most known for his long list of acting roles starting in the 1990s. Cheadle has appeared in Ocean’s Eleven (2001), as well as the sequels Ocean’s Twelve (2004) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007). In 1998, Cheadle received a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Sammy Davis Jr. in the HBO television movie The Rat Pack. He has also received a Golden Globe in 2013 for his role on the small screen. The award was for his starring role as Marty Kaan on House of Lies; he starred on the show from 2012-2016. He has recently made the shift to starring in superhero franchises, including the Iron Man, Avengers, and Captain America movies.
Outside of film, Cheadle works as an activist. He is a U.N. Environment Program Goodwill Ambassador, and has co-authored a book on the genocide in Darfur, Sudan.
