The War On Drugs Bio

The War on Drugs is an American indie rock band formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by Adam Granduciel and Kurt Vile in 2005, later adding organist Charlie Hall, drummer Kyle Lloyd, and bassist Dave Hartley. The quartet gained some notoriety in Pennsylvania and New York before recording their critically acclaimed debut EP Barrel of Batteries in 2007. After the release of their first full-length album Wagonwheel Blues 2008, Vile parted ways with the band, and another LP called Slave Ambient followed in 2011. In 2014 “Lost in the Dream”, a Top 40 album, was released. With this material, the band toured the U.S., Canada, and Europe. In 2017, following the 11-minute single “Thinking of a Place”, LP “A Deeper Understanding” was released with Atlantic Records.
