Third World Bio

Third World is a Jamaican band that was formed in 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica. The founding members of the band were Michael Cooper aka Ibo (keyboardist) and Steven Coore aka Cat (guitarist & Cellist). 

Third World debuted in 1976 with their self-titled full length album Third World which was followed by 96° in the Shade (1977) and Journey to Addis (1978). Their fame was further solidified with the appearance of their 1986 label debut Serious Business which peaked into the Top 30 on the strength of the hit track Forbidden Love. They are known for their appearance on Niney The Observer’s 2009 Compilation Roots With Quality and also on DJ Jazzy Jeff’s 2004 DJ Mix Soulheaven Presents: Jazzy Jeff - In the House.
