Abigail Washburn Bio

Abigail Washburn is an American clawhammer banjo player, singer and songwriter widely acclaimed for her unique talent that gravitates towards reviving folk and bluegrass music. Born on November 10, 1977, in Evanston, Illinois, United States, Washburn found her calling for music during her trip to China that inspired her to explore the rich heritage of Americana and old-time music. She started her career touring with the band Uncle Earl and releasing two records She Waits for the Night (2005) and Waterloo, TN (2007). She released her first solo album Song of the Traveling Daughter in 2005 that earned her massive attention. She also released two albums in collaboration with her 15 times Grammy award-winning husband, Béla Fleck who is also a banjo player. She also performs with acoustic groups Sparrow Quartet and The Wu Force. Her soulful music and seraphic vocals have garnered her well-earned respect and fame.
