Carly Rae Jepsen Bio

Born on November 21, 1985, in British Columbia, Carly Rae Jepsen was raised to love music, and developed a passion for singing at a very young age. After spending a few years in her high school’s musical theater, Jepsen was encouraged by her music teacher to try out for Canadian Idol in 2007, in which she placed third. Just one year after being a contestant on the show, she released her first album Tug of War. Two of the singles on her album, “Tug of War” and “Bucket” went gold, but it was not until her sophomore album, Curiosity, that her fame exploded.

With the February 2012 release of the second album came overwhelming fame, due mainly to her song “Call Me Maybe”, which soared to the #1 spot on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 chart. She was then signed to the U.S. label School Boy Records. “Call Me Maybe” spent a total of nine weeks as the number one song in the United States, and her single has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. Her talents have carried her through to her most recent endeavor, which was her starring role as Cinderella on Broadway.
