Kimbra Bio

Kimbra Lee Johnson, mononymously known as Kimbra, is a singer-songwriter born on March 27, 1990 in Hamilton, New Zealand. She began learning guitar at the age of 12, and by her teens, she was already performing numbers on the streets. Soon enough, Forum 5 discovered her and signed her into a recording contract. In 2010, she released her first single entitled Settle Down, and in 2011, through Warner Bros., she released her first album Vows. That same year, she was featured in Gotye’s single Somebody That I Used To Know, which became a global hit. In 2012, she and Gotye five awards at the New Zealand Music Awards, and in 2013, she and Gotye won two GRAMMYs for their collaboration two years prior. In 2014, she released her second album The Golden Echo, which featured artists like Van Dyke Parks and Muse‘s Matt Bellamy, and in 2018, she released her third album entitled Primal Heart, which then featured the likes of John Congleton and Skrillex.
