Cat Power is an indie and folk rock singer, with a career dating from the 1990s to the present. Cat Power got her start as the opening act for indie rocker Liz Phair, during which she met Steve Shelley of the band Sonic Youth. In December of 1994 she recorded her first album “Dear Sir” and in 1996 her second album “Myra Lee,” with Shelly playing drums and produced on Shelley’s Smells Like label.
Cat Power has released nine studio albums. 1998‘s “Moon Pix” was her break-out album, with subsequent releases showing steady progress towards the top of album charts worldwide; her most recent album “Sun” charting #10 on the Billboard 200. She has collaborated with artists such as Dave Grohl of Nirvana and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam.
