Singer-songwriter Manu Chao, born José-Manuel Thomas Arthur Chao Ortega on June 21st 1961 in Paris to Spanish parents, was instrumental in the Latin alternative movement in the ‘80s. Chao sings in multiple languages including French, Spanish, English, Italian, Arabic, Galician, and Portuguese. Chao founded the band Mano Negra, who found fame in Europe and Latin America. Manu stepped out on his own, releasing Clandestino, which included a rework of the Mano Negra song King of Bongo. The track was used on the soundtrack for Madonna’s The Next Big Thing. Manu showcased fresh tracks on Proxima Estacion: Esperanza. Chao went on to release a solely French album, Sibérie M'était Contéee, and followed up with the studio album, Radiolina. The talented artist is known for his captivating live shows and over the years released live albums including Radio Bemba Sound System, and Baionarena.
