Marian Hill is a synth-pop duo consisting of Jeremy Lloyd (producer) and Samantha Gongol (vocals), school chums who met while singing in choirs. Their music takes elements of electronic R&B and EDM to create their unique high-tech sound over Gongol’s haunting voice. They take their name from two characters of the Meredith Wilson stage musical “The Music Man,” showing some classical influence. They’re one of the few EDM groups to actually make it into the pages of Rolling Stone magazine.
Marian Hill’s greatest break into fame so far is to have their single “Down” featured in an ad for Apple’s wireless earphones AirPods. They got more exposure when the hook of Marian Hill’s single “Got It” was sampled in Romanian pop star Inna’s single “Diggy Down.” Marion Hill has released two full albums, “Act One” (2016) and “Unusual” (2018).
