Barbara was born Barbara Jean Morehead on August 23, 1934, in Tucson, Arizona, United States. She began using the name Barbara Eden in 1956. She attended and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco California in 1949 and was named Miss San Francisco in 1951.
Though a very talented singer, it was her acting prowess that won her worldwide fame. Barbara made her first television appearance in 1971 on I Love Lucy: Country Club Dance. Starring in the NBC TV comedy series I Dream of Jeannie in 1965 gained Barbara worldwide acclaim. She has starred in more than 20 theatrical films and made-for-television films for at least four different movie studios: 20th Century Fox, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Columbia Studios, and Universal Studios. She was inducted into the California Broadcasting Hall of Fame on July 18th, 2003. She traveled with Bob Hope to the middle-east to perform for the combat troops when the Persian Gulf war was raging.
Barbara released an album titled Miss Barbara Eden in 1967 under Dot Records.
