Colman Domingo Bio
Colman Domingo is an American actor, writer, director, and playwright born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on November 28, 1969. He is best known for his roles in the films If Beale Street Could Talk, Selma, Birth of a Nation, and Lincoln. In 1995 he made his debut in theater in the production of Twelfth Night and has been in numerous productions on and off Broadway since, including Journey to the West, Romeo and Juliet, Winter’s Tale, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Henry V, Passing Strange, The Wiz, Chicago, and many more. His debut in film was the same year as his debut in theater in the 1995 movie Timepiece. He has also landed roles in the films and television series Miracle at St. Anna, 42, Lincoln, The Butler, Selma, Law & Order, Fear the Walking Dead, Lucifer, and others. In 1998 he made his directorial debut in the theater production of Pieces of the Quilt – 3 and has been a director for the theater productions of Once on This Island, Single Black Female, Seven Guitars, Exit Cuckoo, and more, as well as directing two episodes on the television show Fear The Walking Dead. Throughout his career as an actor and director he has been nominated for a number of awards and has won an Obie Award, a Black Reel Award, an ITVFest Award, a Lucille Nortel Award, among others.
