Nathan Joel Marquardt, better known as Nate "The Great" Marquardt, is an American mixed martial artist best known for his time as a middleweight in the UFC. He was born in Lander, Wyoming, United States, on April 20, 1979.
With a history in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Nate began his professional MMA career in 1999 when he defeated Mike Lee by submission at WVF – Durango, and he went on to fight under Pancrase, IFC, and Bas Rutten Invitational before he joined the UFC in 2005. Throughout his time with the UFC, Nate shared the octagon with fellow mixed martial artists Chael Sonnen, Anderson Silva, Kelvin Gastelum, and Thiago Santos.
