Aloe Blacc, born as Egbert Nathaniel III (born January 6, 1979) is an American singer, rapper, songwriter and producer. He is best known for his single, ‘I Need a Dollar’, which has 144 million plays on Spotify. He is also known for his feature on Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’, topping charts in 22 countries. Blacc was born and raised in Laguna Hills California and started his career in 1995 dabbling in production and small projects in the underground hip hop scene. Launching his solo career in 2006 under Stone Throw records, Blacc released ‘Shine Through’, debuting his mix of soulful records. This was followed by ‘Good Things’ in 2010 which featured his top song, ‘I Need a Dollar’. The album rose to certified gold status in Germany, France, Australia and the UK. Shortly after he released ‘Good Things’, Blacc was approached by Simon Fuller to sign with XIX Management. Under XIX, he released his third studio album, ‘Lift Your Spirit’, in 2013 which was produced by Pharrell Williams and DJ Khalil, amongst others. His single off the album, ‘The Man’ was a massive success, now with 221 million plays on Spotify. In 2014, ‘Lift Your Spirit’ was nominated as the Best R&B Album.
