Amaral is a pop Spanish band that was formed in 1997 in Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain. The members of the band were Eva Amaral (vocals, guitar; born on August 4, 1973, in Zaragoza, Spain) and Juan Aguirre (guitar; born on February 11, 1970, in San Sebastián, Spain). Eva used to drum for the band Bandera Blanca and Juan a guitarist for Días de Vino y Rosas. They both left their former groups and formed Amaral, after Eva’s surname.
They released their full-length effort Amaral in 1998 which induced a series of singles. Their sophomore effort Una Pequeña Parte del Mundo appeared in 2000 and the band’s fame kept rising. Their third Estrella de Mar arrived two years later and was a big hit. It peaked at #1 on the Spanish albums chart and the singles Sin Ti No Soy Nada, Moriría por Vos, Toda la Noche en la Calle, Te Necesito, Salir Corriendo were topping the singles chart.
Their fourth full-length effort Pájaros en la Cabeza (2005) was as successful as the previous album with a ton of popular singles. The double-album Gato Negro/Dragon Rojo dropped in 2008 and in May 2008 they released their fifth studio album Gato negro, Dragón rojo.
