Anouk Hoogendijk Bio

Anouk Anna Hoogendijk is a former professional soccer player born on May 6, 1985, in Woerden, Netherlands. Growing up with two physical education teachers as parents, Hoogendijk participated in many sports since she was young. She started playing soccer at 9 with her brother and signed up for the team in Combinatie Sportclub Wilnis. At 12, she became the only girl playing in the boys’ team at CSW. At 19, she was no longer eligible to play in the boys’ team and moved to play for SV Saestum’s women’s team. With this team, she became a two-times National Champion, won the SuperCup, and reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Hoogendijl became one of the founding members of FC Utrecht Vrouwen in 2007, which she played in until 2011. She transferred to Bristol Academy in England for a year before deciding to return to play in the Netherlands. After her return, Hooendijl joined the newly-founded women’s team at Ajax. She played for the team until 2017 except for an interruption in 2014 to play with Arsenal. She announced her retirement in 2017. In addition to her accomplishments as a soccer player, Hoogendijk works with special needs children as a physical education teacher.
