Anthony Pettis is an American professional mixed martial artist, born on January 27, 1987, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2010 with the WEC/UFC merger and quickly became known worldwide for his brilliant strength. He fought in the Welterweight, Lightweight, and Featherweight divisions of the UFC. He is a former UFC Lightweight Champion. On December 2, 2013, he received a Certificate of Achievement by the Governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker.
Anthony has Puerto Rican and Mexican roots and is the older brother of mixed martial artist Reynaldo Pettis. Their grandfather, Eugene Perez had to change the original family name to Pettis to avoid discrimination. Anthony trained taekwondo and capoeira before becoming famous. His first professional MMA debut was in December 2017. Along with business partners Duke Roufus and Scott Joffe, he owns the Roufusport MMA Academy.
