Art School Girlfriend is the stage name of singer/songwriter Polly Mackey from Wrexham, North Wales. She began playing the drums at the age of 8 and later, interested in the work of artists like PJ Harvey and The Jesus and Mary Chain, played with some local bands. After living in London for 5 years she finally settled in Margate, Kent where she began writing her own songs. Her atmospheric electronic project is directly influenced and inspired by writers Virginia Woolf and Milan Kundera as well as musicians Caribou and John Maus. Her music attracted the interest of Paul Epworth, Grammy Award-Winner who also works with artists like Florence + The Machine. In 2017 she signed with his label, Wolf Tone Records, and released her first EP, Measures. She promoted it with live performances in the UK and in 2018 she released her second EP Into The Blue Hour.
