Benjamin Clementine Bio
Benjamin Clementine, born Benjamin Sainte-Clémentine was born and raised in North London to an immigrant family from Ghana. Clementine is a self-taught musician with a unique and hard to place style of playing the piano. He worked his way up from playing in the streets of Paris, at times being homeless, to performing at festivals and in clubs. While in Paris he gained a following and became somewhat of an icon. Clementine won of the coveted Mercury prize for his debut single ‘At Least For Now’. Clementine has also done some acting. His TV debut was on the BBC programme Later with Jools Holland which appeared on TV in 2013. Musically he is hard to pin down but he’s been compared to Nina Simone and Leonard Cohen.
